Urology
Scope of Services：
- Urinary tract stones：Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL)、Ureteral and bladder stones removal or fragmentation、Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) using flexible ureteroscopy、Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL)
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)：Laser vaporization or resection、Bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP)
- Inguinal hernia：Minimally invasive laparoscopic hernia repair with totally extraperitoneal (TEP) approach and tension-free repair、 Open repair for complex hernias
- Urologic tumors：Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT)、Minimally invasive peritoneoscopic (retroperitoneoscopic) surgeries for kidney, ureter, prostate, and adrenal tumors
- U rinary incontinence：Minimally invasive surgery using tension-free vaginal tape obturator (TVT-O)
- Microsurgical procedures：Vasovasostomy、Precise varicocelectomy with artery preservation
- Male fertility and andrology：Vasectomy、Circumcision
- Trauma-related urologic surgeries：Nephrectomy for renal hemorrhage in an hemodynamically unstable patient、Ureteral anastomosis for ureteral injury、Bladder repair、Urinary diversion for urethral injury、Tunica albuginea repair for penile trauma、Penile plication surgery for curvature correction (Nesbit procedure)
- Transrectal ultrasound of the prostate (TRUS) and uroflowmetry.
- Bladder ultrasound scan for post-void residual volume (PVR) measurement
- Urodynamic studies (UDS), including：Cystometry (CMG)、External sphincter electromyography (EMG)、Urethral pressure profilometry (UPP) and stress urethral pressure testing
- Diagnosis and treatment of：Female urinary incontinence、Voiding dysfunction、Sexual dysfunction、Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
The division currently comprises five physicians: Dr. Po-Wei Huang (Division Chief), Dr. Jen-Hao Cheng (Chief of the Extracorporeal Shock Wave Unit), Dr. Meng-Hung Shih (Chief of the Urodynamic Study Unit), Senior Consultant Dr. Man-Gang Lee, and Senior Consultant Dr. Sheng-Chung Ko. The medical team also includes four additional staff members: Ms. Shu-Chen Lo (Technician, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Unit), Ms. Chao-I Kao (Technician, Urodynamic Study Unit), and nurse practitioners Ms. Ya-Fang Cai and Ms. Yu-Fen Lee. Several team members hold doctoral or master’s degrees in relevant medical fields, and some have been certified as Assistant Professors certified by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education. This highly qualified team is well-equipped to comprehensively fulfill the division’s multifaceted mission in clinical care, education, and research.
